This candid discussion is designed to give current Film and Media Studies majors a look at life after graduation. Our alumni panelists will discuss their professional journeys, offering insights into the challenges, successes, and the lessons they've learned working in the film industry. Film and Media Studies Undergraduate Director and Professor Glen Mimura will moderate the discussion, followed by a Q&A session. Whether you're curious about different career options or seeking practical advice for your own career path, this event provides an invaluable opportunity to learn from those who've been in your shoes. A reception at the Anthill Pub & Grille will take place immediately after the event.
About our alumni panelists:
Brandon Buczek '10: Brandon Buczek is a writer/director based in Los Angeles. He started his career online creating a web series called Office Problems that has garnered over 45 million views and has over 150,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok. His debut feature film, Your Own Road, captivated audiences at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2017, marking him as a filmmaker to watch. He has made a number of short films that have screened at festivals around the world, including the short film, Please Open a Door for Me, which was a finalist at the Oaxaca Film Fest. Buczek's highly anticipated second feature, Something Casual, premiered at the iconic Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles as part of the Dances With Films festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize Honorable Mention. This film is due for release in early 2026 as he works on putting together his next project.
Taylor Stonerock '20: Upon graduating Film and Media Studies in 2020 Taylor Stonerock got her start working as a Producer for Boot Barn producing campaigns and commercials domestically and internationally. Since then, she has produced work for Walmart, Toshiba, and Nordstrom and has continued to expand her career across independent film and television. Most recently, she has been line producing for tech clients such as Salesforce and ServiceNow. Her film and television credits include Guttermuckers, The Wolf and The Lamb, and HBO's The Last of Us Season 2.
Mason Trueblood '13: Mason Trueblood is a multidisciplinary creative professional with over 15 years of storytelling experience in the entertainment industry. A proud UCI Film and Media Studies alumnus, Mason has built a diverse career spanning acting, screenwriting, and digital media production. As a SAG-AFTRA actor and writer, Mason's credits include the recent Disney+ documentary feature Not Just a Goof (screenwriter) and the Bentkey series Gus Plus Us (screenwriter), bringing his storytelling expertise to digital platforms. His performance work includes roles on Glee, Dear White People, Legends of Tomorrow, and Palm Royale, as well as touring internationally with Bring it On The Musical and The Muppets.Currently, Mason is the founder and creator of Bramble, a movie rating platform (still in beta) designed to help audiences discover and engage with film in meaningful ways.
