Spencer Seward has been a Composition Lecturer at UCI since 2014 and is a fiction writer and musician. He earned his BA in English from UC Irvine in 2008 and his MFA in Fiction from George Mason University in 2014. His fiction has appeared in various literary journals, and you can find his music on Spotify (ask him for names, if you’re interested).

His teaching focuses on empowering students to take control of their language and write about significant issues in their lives and in our culture and society, using their own unique experience and perspectives. He also seeks to an inject a little punk rock ethos into our approach to writing and rhetoric.

His personal interests, outside of his art, include: music (all genres), sports (basically all of them, but especially baseball, American football, and hockey), cooking, films and television (especially science fiction and horror), and, through his incredibly convincing friends, The Bachelor universe (he is now firmly in The Pit). He also likes video games and the outdoors. Bother him after class if you ever want to talk shop about these this things.
