As the first of two lower-division writing requirements, WR 50 (formerly 39B) or WR 45 (formerly WR 37) are designed to teach you methods for reading critically and across genres and to give you ample time to write analytical essays for an academic audience. Writing 45 is the same class as WR 50, except you’ll spend some extra class-time on language intensive assignments, and WR 45 satisfies the Entry Level Writing Requirement as well as WR 50.
