Jack is thrilled to be in his second-year in the PhD in English. UC Irvine has been home to him for some time: he earned his BA here in 2015 and returns after having earned an MPhil from Cambridge in 2020. His research focuses on how early modern writers thought about the workings of and their relationship to nature. On the side, he's trying his hand at writing a novel.

Course Descriptions:
- This course will examine the climate crisis through the eyes of Californians whose communities are disproportionately and acutely feeling its effects but whose advocacy efforts are also making inroads in the environmental justice movement.
Textbooks Needed:
- Readings will include scholarly articles, research reports, court cases, newspaper articles, and even photos. All will be made available as PDFs uploaded to Canvas.
