Vegetarians love mushrooms, because they are a tasty alternative source of protein. Although mushrooms are not meat, they are not plants either. From Risotto ai fungi, Quiche aux champignons, to Campell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup and the popular truffle fries today, we have been eating fungi from every culture throughout history. How many mushrooms can you name? What is your favorite kind?

This event will start with a conversation with Professors Jon Pitt, Kathleen Treseder, and Daphne Lei. The conversation will cover different aspects of mushrooms, including science, literature, art, and ecology. There will also be a display of a variety of mushrooms.

Chef Stephie and her team will prepare a delicious multi-course mushroom meal. This is a great opportunity to expand your fungi palate without needing to hire a truffle hog!
