Margaret Cavendish's "The Convent of Pleasure": Reading Group

The New Swan Shakespeare Center, in collaboration with UCI Illuminations, is excited to invite you to this one-night reading group for Margaret Cavendish’s rarely-performed 1668 play, The Convent of Pleasure! In the lead up to the dramatic reading of our new adaptation on November 6th and 7th, we’re eager to experience Duchess Margaret’s original play with you, accompanied by our usual array of teas and delicious sweets. 

Led by Center Education & Engagement Associate Neah Lekan, this reading group promises a guided tour through one of the “hidden gems” of early modern English drama, written by an iconic female author of Shakespeare’s century.
