Book Talk: Feels Right

On May 24, 2023 the Gender and Sexuality Studies Department at UCI will host a book talk featuring Kemi Adeyemi, author of Feels Right: Black Queer Women and the Politics of Partying in Chicago. Adeyemi is Associate Professor of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington. She also serves as the director of the Black Embodiments Studio in Seattle, Washington. Adeyemi previously co-edited Queer Nightlife with Kareem Khubchandani and Ramón Rivera-Servera. Her writing has appeared in GLQ and Women & Performance, and the edited volumes Keywords for Gender and Sexuality Studies and the Routledge Companion to African American Art History. This event is co-sponsored by the Sawyer Seminar on Black Reconstruction as a Portal, the Humanities Center, Critical Theory, African American Studies, and Culture and Theory.
