Program Founder and Donor

“I saw the real impact of internships on the lives and career prospects of my own children, and I wanted UC Irvine English majors to have similar opportunities for intellectual development and career exploration. I am thrilled that the English internship program continues to grow, and I am proud to support it financially and in any other way that I can.”

Program Employer

“The Internships for English Majors Program empowers students and affirms both the value of their own study and the importance of the Humanities in civic life and the workplace. Interns strengthen their communication skills through writing in multiple forms toward engaging a variety of readerships. Finally, entering a community committed to celebrating the arts, writing, and civic literacy is perhaps the most valuable element of this program.”

English ‘93, Program Donor

“I spent much of my career in marketing and communications and lived in Charlotte, NC for a good portion after being recruited by Bank of America and then working for a large health system there. I transitioned into consumer experience technology a few years ago and am now in Denver, where I lead a large team of technologists, strategists, and digital marketing experts for Intermountain Healthcare. It’s all about being creative, solving problems and selling your ideas. All skills a UC Irvine humanities grad certainly has!”

“I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to connect students from my alma mater, UC Irvine, to the powerful work of emerging nonprofits in our incubator. When you bring together passionate and skilled English majors with passionate and skilled community leaders – good things happen! I hope we can continue to support these opportunities for students in the future.”
