Erika Escutia, "Between the Pharmacy and Devotion: Medicinal Stones, Mining, and Contested Indigenous Knowledges in the Sixteenth Century"

David H. Colmenares (Comparative Literature) and Nicole Hughes (LAIC), co-directors of Early Modern Iberian Worlds (EMIW) Research Cluster, are organizing an upcoming Zoom talk by Erika Escutia, professor at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana in Mexico City. She will present "Entre la farmacia y la devoción: piedras medicinales, minería y saberes indígenas en disputa (siglo XVI)" ("Between the Pharmacy and Devotion: Medicinal Stones, Mining, and Contested Indigenous Knowledges in the Sixteenth Century"). The talk will be delivered in Spanish. It will take place on Friday, October 9, at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time. The event is free and open to the public, and zoom registration is required.
