Global Media and Sport will introduce students to critical discussions about the new media ecologies for sports fandom, considering new media platforms for sports spectatorship and sports fandom and building global brands. We will look at gender in competition and fandom. In this context, we will look at FIFA, the Beijing 2008 Olympics and ESPN as case studies for global media's effects on local sports environments.
