The Humanities Center at UCI invites applications from UCI doctoral candidates in any field to serve on the Digital Humanities Exchange (DHX) steering committee. We are pleased to offer each of two graduate fellows a  stipend of $750.00 in research funds for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Stemming from the Digital Humanities Working Group, which was founded in 2014 within UCI's Humanities Commons (now, Humanities Center) the Digital Humanities Exchange welcomes staff, faculty, and students  who have scholarly, pedagogical, or personal interests in the Digital Humanities. This includes people who make use of digital research tools or who research digital objects, as well as those  who bring innovative digital tools into the classroom. The DHX especially welcomes the uninitiated but interested, who want to learn more about DH and how they can open their own work up to digital humanities tools.  The group is interdisciplinary and includes participants from across the Humanities and UCI. The DHX sponsors events such as guest speakers, conferences, and skill-shares. We are full of enthusiasm and continue to grow!

The DHX (Digital Humanities eXchange) seeks the participation of up to two graduate fellows to:
  • Assist and advise with programing, publicity, and community building around DH
  • Attend steering committee meetings 2 times a month
  • Attend institutional and public events sponsored by the DHX
Applicants are invited to contact DHX co-chair Professor Deanna Shemek with questions. Please send applications to Professor Shemek through dighum@uci.edu and include the following with your application materials:
  • Current degree program and year
  • CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • Brief description of interest or experience in digital humanities: What would you like to do or see in DHX?
