Desha Dauchan, faculty in Film & Media Studies, screened her short film Covered at the BlackStar Film Festival on August 5.

From the festival program:
"Non-linear, haunting, and layered in both form and narrative, Desha Dauchan's Covered is a short and impactful character sketch film of a woman who grows obsessed with finding a part of herself that she can no longer access. Leah Hassan (Karla Mosley) is at an impasse in her marriage, her independence, and her happiness. The film's subtleties unfold with every re-viewing to reveal Dauchan's attention to detail. She takes advantage of the form's possibilities to show, not tell, the dilemmas of her character: night and day, past and present, father and daughter all dance around each other before Leah's eyes, allowing us to see the world from her perspective."

Congratulations to Desha!
