Please join us for the next installment of DHX’s Critical Data Studies reading group. We’ll meet on February 13 to discuss Nick Couldry and Ulises Mejias’s Data Grab: The New Colonialism of Big Tech and How to Fight Back (2024), available online through UCI Libraries. Read as much or as little as you’d like. We’ll focus our discussion on Chapter One, “A New Colonialism,” and Chapter Six, “A Playbook for Resistance.” We’ll also look at Mejias’s recent op-ed in Future U, “The Core of Gen-AI is Incompatible with Academic Integrity.” This meeting precedes a visit to UCI by Professor Mejias on February 27. Hope to see you there!
