While UCI is still filling critical staff vacancies, the campus has instituted a centralized position management process, akin to the one for the authorization of faculty recruitments. We have been asked to closely scrutinize requests for new positions and for filling vacant positions. Any hiring request first needs the approval of the assistant dean and dean; if the dean supports the request, it would be forwarded to the central committee vetting the requests.
