2016-2017 Graduate Student Research Assistant Position

The Humanities Commons is hiring a Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSR) for the 2016-2017 academic year. The GSR will provide project management support for graduate training initiatives in the School of Humanities that are coordinated through the Humanities Commons.  The GSR will work closely with Amanda Swain, Associate Director, and Julia Lupton, Associate Dean for Research, to implement an NEH Next Generation PhD Planning Grant (if received) or a scaled down version of the planning process and additional grant-writing if the NEH grant is not awarded (funding announcements will be made in August).

This is a 9 months (October 2016-June 2017) GSR VI, 50% FTE appointment, which includes in-state fees/tuition for the academic year. Depending on availability, the appointment will start in September 2017 with hourly pay at the GSR VI rate.

Key responsibilities:
o Research models of integrated career preparation in humanities doctoral training at other universities
o Assess SOH departmental PhD alumni tracking
o Develop list of existing departmental professional development courses and activities
o Assist with preparation of grant proposals to support graduate student professional development and career preparation activities.
o Assist with writing reports to SOH stakeholders and funders
o Schedule and prepare materials for planning committee meetings
o Schedule and prepare materials for working group meetings
