TO THE APPLICANT: The Ph.D. program in Comparative Literature relies on competence in foreign languages. Ordinarily, applicants are not admitted without at least one acceptable foreign language, and a start on a second is highly recommended. Since language competence is sometimes difficult to ascertain from transcripts and other application materials, you are requested to make a more precise statement of your foreign language training and ability by filling out the form below. Please upload it to your online application.
Please describe your competence in each language through some sort of descriptive phrase, such as as "read with dictionary," "fluent," "native speaker," etc.
