Research Abstract

The research develops the Wittgenstein-inspired perspective of “hinge epistemology” in the social domain, with the aim of investigating how prejudices deeply entrenched in our backgrounds and worldviews impact on our perception of the others. While building on my PhD work on the later Wittgenstein and pragmatism, with this project I now intend to lay the groundwork for a theoretical dialogue between hinge epistemology and research on epistemic injustice. The overall idea is that in order to better understand prejudice, we need to go in the direction of a critical and non-traditional account of knowledge itself, conceived of as crucially dependent on human practices.
