Meaning of Life Silence Sessions 2024-25
Thursdays 3:45-4:45
Fall Meeting Dates
October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 / November 7, 14, 21
Krieger Hall 200E (Directions)
Sharing silence is a timeless practice of personal repair & collective transformation.
Each week we’ll be silent together, hear from a UCI community member about their tradition, philosophy, or practices of silence, & then reflect on our collective quiet, leaving more rooted for what’s next.
In the fall we'll hear from individuals about silence in Quaker and Sikh practices, silence when undergoing cancer treatment, and "the medical pause" of silence used after death in some emergency rooms. We'll invite interested students and community members to sign up to introduce their own traditions of silence from diverse practices and philosophies within Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, atheism/naturalism, Hinduism, Christianity, Catholicism, indigenous perspectives, and many others, as we attempt silence and the challenge of multiplicity.
