Monday, April 23, 2018: Freeloader MC, performing music from his upcoming album, "Dragon of the West"
You are invited to a performance by hip-hop artist Freeloader MC, performing music from his upcoming album, "Dragon of the West."
Asian American rapper Freeloader MC will be a guest performer for Illuminations 2018. By sharing his own personal experiences growing up as an Asian American through his music, he will be adding his own dialogue to this year's theme of Unity through Diversity, leading audiences to reflect upon their own customs and cultures and how they can find their own self-identy in the world around them. He recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bacherlor's degree in Audio Production, and is currently pursuing a full-time music career.

Tuesday, April 24, 2018: Talk To Me Pizza Lunch in the Park
Individual classes will be holding interactive activities to bring students together. Come to Aldrich Park to join an activity and also find out more about offices that can help you get involved in the campus community. These offices will also be stamping your Passports and offering free pizza!

Cultural Intelligence Workshop
You will gain knowledge on what it takes to act in an intercultural context, what the underlying reasons are for why we act and do as we do – and how we, with research based knowledge, best practice and simple tools, can achieve fruitful intercultural working relations. Participants will learn how to bridge cultural gaps, gain insights and operate effectively in a global context. You will be introduced to the four components of cultural intelligence – drive, knowledge, strategy and action. Discover why diversity should diversity benefit a group or a team; the evidence for diversity as a beneficial ingredient; and the difference between benefiting from cultural diversity and failing because of diversity.
Presented by Yong Chen, Professor of History and Associate Dean Curriculum and Student Services, School of Humanities and Khary Hornsby, Assistant Dean for L.L.M. and International Programs, School of Law.

Hypercolor Concert
Hypercolor, the bicoastal trio of guitarist Eyal Maoz, bassist James Ilgenfritz, and drummer (and UCI Music faculty member) Lukas Ligeti, presents a fresh take on jazz: the rawness of punk, the virtuosity of jazz-rock, the unrestrained energy of free improvisation, the constructivism of new-music composition, and the emotionality of indie rock coalesce to create an instrumental music of sheer originality.

Street foods have a long and rich history, today it has become a mainstay in urban culture, large cities and small towns alike. The smells and sounds from these vendors continue to tempt passersby on the street around the world. Quick, easy and delicious food served throughout the world will be shared with participants. From Hispanic street tacos to Chinese Fried noodles, come discover the flavors regions around the world have to share.
