The World Languages Symposium at the University of California, Irvine (WLS@UCI) is an annual conference hosted by the Program in Global Languages and Cultures (GLC) in the School of Humanities. The symposium brings together language educators, researchers, and scholars from both local and global contexts to engage in meaningful dialogue on innovative practices, current research, and inclusive approaches to language teaching and learning.

Held on the vibrant campus of the University of California, Irvine in Southern California, the conference highlights the dynamic intersection of local and global educators and scholars. It offers interactive, practice-oriented sessions designed to foster collaboration, strengthen professional networks, and bridge classroom practice with research and theory. Participants will also have opportunities to engage with language education organizations and explore emerging tools, publications, and resources that are shaping the field today.

We invite language educators from across the United States and around the world—including K–12 teachers, community college faculty, and university educators and scholors—to share their work, exchange ideas, and engage in this growing professional community.
