All new international first-year students begin their career at UCI with a hold on their record. You must complete steps 1 – 4 below so that you may have the hold removed and be permitted to enroll in courses for the Fall 2025 Quarter. Please carefully review the following information for instructions on how to complete academic advising online and register for courses.

FIRST STEPS
1) ACTIVATE YOUR UCI NETID
2) SUBMIT ALL OFFICIAL PAPERWORK TO THE OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS BY THE APPROPRIATE DEADLINES

3) COMPLETE THE HUMANITIES INTERNATIONAL FIRST-YEAR ADVISING CANVAS COURSE
You will receive an invitation to this Canvas course in early July. Please complete Modules 1 – 3 and the School of Humanities Web Advising Module in Canvas. Take notes and pay careful attention. You will be held responsible for knowing all the information provided! NOTE: Firefox is the recommended browser for this course.

4) COMPLETE THE HUMANITIES FIRST YEAR WEB ADVISING QUIZ
At the end of the School of Humanities Web Advising Module, you will need to answer quiz questions to confirm that you understand the presentation material. Please read through the presentation slides carefully to make sure that you comprehend policies, procedures, and requirements pertaining to the university, our school, and your degree before you start the quiz. You are encouraged to refer to the presentation slides in the module for the answers to the quiz questions.

5) SIGN UP FOR CLASSES BY AUGUST 1, 2025
You will receive an email sent to your UCI email address, to which you will have access once you activate your UCInetID, within 2-3 days of completing Modules 1 – 3 and the School of Humanities Web Advising Module. This email will contain a personalized suggested Fall Quarter schedule and further instructions on how to register for classes.

NOTE: Registration will begin on July 16 for Humanities students who finish academic advising online by completing steps 1 – 4. Finish web advising early to enroll in courses before space fills up. You will have fewer course options to choose from the longer you wait to complete web advising.
