I am a 2nd year PhD student in the department of history. I have an MA degree in late medieval, Italian history from UCI as well. The research for my PhD; however, is much different. Now, I primarily focus on the history of skin, analyzing tattoos and brandings in ancient regime France (i.e. pre-revolution). Even though I focus primarily on France, I also look at the French Caribbean, mainly the colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti). I have a book review that will be published soon in the Journal of the Early Republic on Manuel Covo's monograph "Entrepôt of Revolutions: Saint Domingue, Commercial Sovereignty, and the French-American Alliance" (Oxford, 2022). In between finishing my MA and beginning my PhD, I was a 7th grade world history teacher in Phoenix. I have also been a DTEI (Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation) fellow, and developed my own course entitled, HIS 70A: Protecting the Empire: Women, Indios, Africans, and Witchcraft in New Spain. In my free time, I like to buy and sell rare/antiquarian books.
