"From Dig to Museum" and "Ancient Death Art" Field Trip to New York and Boston, Spring Break 2026Students in Professor Acosta's and Professor Silva's classes spent Spring Break in New York and Boston checking out many well known museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Art. The group had the chance to meet with various art historians and archaeologists and learn about famous art and artifacts from field experts. There was a museum of choice day that allowed students to visit the museum they were most enthusiastic about as well! -
“Art History Social Hour” Field Trip to Chicago with Professor Nisbet in Winter 2025Students in the Art History Social Hour Class took a trip to Chicago to visit the Art Institute of Chicago and a (very chilly!) walking tour of Chicago’s downtown architecture. -
“Caribbean Art” Field Trip to Curaçao with Professor Lapin Dardashti in Fall 2024This trip to Curaçao gave students a unique opportunity to see Caribbean art in person, learn about ancient, colonial, and modern and contemporary art and architecture, and visit the studios of local artists to learn about their experiences. The trip featured lots of exciting experiential activities including a tour of the Curaçaosch Museum, visits to closed archives, a meeting with an archeologist, a salsa class, several art studio visits, and more! -
Florence Seminar with Professor Massey in Winter 2024Students in Professor Massey's Winter Quarter seminar spent a week in Florence, Italy in March 2024 exploring the urban fabric of this magnificent Renaissance city. Visiting multiple monuments, museums and archives such as San Marco, the Bargello, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Medici Archive Project, the students also were assigned to present research to each other on various works of art and sites. The group soaked up the local culture, food and gelato, and enjoyed a cooking lesson where they learned to make ravioli, tagliatelle, and gnocchi. -
“Return to Earth,” student workshop at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, with Professor Winther-Tamaki, Fall 2023Students researched works of art on exhibit at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and presented their findings at a public workshop at the museum attended by students, professors, and curators based in Tokyo. After the workshop, the group spent six days visiting exhibitions, museums, and other sites in the Tokyo area.
