Allie is a doctoral candidate in the English department who is passionate about creating student-centered classrooms that prioritize critical thinking and demystify academic writing practices. She holds a BA in English from the University of Southern California and an MFA in Creative Writing and MA in English from Chapman University. In addition to UCI, in the last ten years she’s taught at Santa Ana Jail, Fullerton College, Chapman University, university and community college writing centers, and both intermediate and primary education. In her free time, she likes to ride her bike, play soccer, and go on adventures with her son, Remy.

  • The Rhetoric of Fairy Tales (WR 50): We explore what fairy tales are, how they work, and why they are so durably meaningful across different cultures.
  • The Criminalization of Immigration (WR 60): This course examines changes in US immigration enforcement that constitute a turn toward overcriminalization.
