The 2016 Franco Tonelli Memorial Prize in Film & Media Studies

Attention Film and Media Studies Students:

In memory of our late colleague and Film Studies founder Professor Franco Tonelli, the Department of Film and Media Studies will once again award a prize of $100 for the best undergraduate essay in the following two categories: (1) film and/or media criticism, and (2) film and/or media theory.

These papers may be of any length and must have been written by a UCI student who has taken at least one Film and Media Studies course during the last academic year (Spring 2015, Summer 2015, Fall 2015, Winter 2016). Rewritten or revised essays will be accepted and are, in fact, strongly encouraged. We also encourage you to consult with faculty members regarding rewrites. Multiple submissions are allowed, but no more than three per student.

To be eligible for consideration, two copies of each double-spaced and typed submission with cover sheet, must be delivered to Eva Yonas in the Film and Media Studies office, HG 2012, by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15. Cover sheets must include the author's name, the paper title, and the course for which the paper was originally written. Author names should not appear anywhere else on the paper to ensure confidentiality.

Submissions are read by a panel of Film and Media Studies faculty who are not given the authors' names until the winning papers are determined.

For additional information, please contact Eva Yonas at eyonas@uci.edu.

Deadline: Friday, April 15, 2016 / 4:00PM
