Unfamiliar with Shakespeare's dark comedy? Did you read it years ago but don't recall the details? Or do you want to delve into a favorite with new friends and fellow travelers?
Whether you are a newcomer to Measure for Measure or an old friend to this turbulent and troubling "problem play," all are welcome to join us for this one-day marathon reading session. Led by New Swan Shakespeare Fellow Chelsea Lee with Professor Julia Lupton, we will read the play out loud and discuss key scenes and themes. Books provided; no prior experience or preparation necessary.
10:00 am-12:00 pm: First reading session.
12:00-1:00 pm: Lunch break. (Bring your lunch and we will eat outside.)
1:00-4:00 pm: Complete our reading of the play. Iced tea and Shakespeare-themed cookies provided.
