The Art History Intern at UCI Special Collections & Archives (SCA) will work on either a digitization project or a physical exhibit outside of Special Collections focusing on East Asian Artist Books (China, Japan and Korea) during the Winter 2020 quarter.

For the digitization project, the intern will help select, describe (using existing or new metadata), photograph and/or film artist books from UCI's collection of East Asian artists' books to be added to the UCI Artist’s Book Collection on Calisphere, the digital collections site for the University of California system.

For the physical exhibit, the intern will select material from the collection, review material from purchase from book dealers, and curate a small exhibit in the exhibit space outside of the UCI Special Collections Reading Room (four cases.) The exhibit will be ready to go on display for the Spring 2020 quarter and will complement the 30th Anniversary of the East Asian Collection Exhibit taking place in the main lobby of the Jack Langson Library.

Application Deadline: Sunday, 8th December at 11:59 pm

Interviews are tentatively planned to be held during Finals Week: Tuesday and Wednesday December 10 and 11th

Art History majors have first priority followed by Art History and Archaeology minors, Art History MA students, and Visual Studies PhD students. Proposals from students demonstrating financial need are encouraged.
