Travel Research Awards

The next call for Travel Research Awards will be Spring 2020. These awards are provided twice a year, during spring and fall.

Travel research is a great way to gain experience, develop skills and add a good story to your resume. There are several travel research opportunities available to undergraduate students.  We offer travel research awards twice a year which are available to undergraduate Art History majors, Art History and Archaeology Minors, 4+1 grad students and Visual Studies students.

In the meantime, check out the recent posting about the Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium and Funding Support and UCI's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.

Funds may be used for the following:

• Research travel, such as flights, ground transportation, and lodging; archival and copying fees; and other research expenses, such as translation or transcription;

• Conference travel, including registration, flights, ground transportation and lodging.

• Undergraduate student applicants must use funds for UROP or similar faculty-mentored projects. We encourage all undergraduates to take a few minutes and visit the UROP website to learn about and, hopefully, participate in this excellent program. Please note that the next UROP deadline is Tuesday, November 12th, 2019. Students applying for a FOAH travel research award related to a UROP proposal should submit a copy of their UROP application materials and confirmation of acceptance to c.flanagan@uci.edu.
