Deadline to submit application: Monday, October 8th at 12 pm.

The ArtTable Intern would serve as an administrative assistant to ArtTable Southern California, the local branch of a national membership organization made up of professional women in the visual arts. Members include museum directors and curators, university professors, arts journalists, art dealers, art writers, independent scholars, art consultants, appraisers, auction house personnel, and more that produces approximately three events per month.

Events include exhibition walks-throughs with curators at museums and galleries, artist studio visits, visits to private collection, networking events and social gatherings.  The Arttable intern would help meet and greet members at these events, while gaining special access, and also help record (photograph) the events and post them on Arttable’s social media pages, keeping members on a national scale informed about the its activities.  (A familiarity with Facebook and Instagram is essential.)   ArtTable also provides educational outreach; the intern will assist with the organization of a Career Development Roundtable, planned for winter or spring of this next academic year.  College and university students from across Southern California will be invited to attend a day session in which women in the various visual arts professions will meet with students to inform them about the myriad possibilities open to those with knowledge and training in our field.

Ideally, the Intern would attend all ArtTable events in L.A. and elsewhere.  Upcoming programs will be held in Long Beach on Wednesday, October 10th from 10-2, and in L.A. on October 18, from 6:30-8:00.  The intern would work with Roni Feinstein, independent art history scholar, at her home (10 minutes from UCI) on the Career Development Roundtable and other programs for approximately two hours each week.  ArtTable’s social media platforms can be handled by the Intern from his/her own home.

The intern will work with Roni Feinstein, an independent scholar specializing in 20th- and 21st-century art. She has resided in and reported on the art scenes of New York, Miami, Toronto, Sydney, and, most recently, Los Angeles.  She has worked as a museum director and curator, university professor, museum educator, arts journalist, and collection manager. She is currently Co-chair of ArtTable, Southern California, the local branch of a national organization of professional women in the arts, and serves on ArtTable's National Board.  She is also an instructor at UCLA Extension and curates a New York-based private collection of 20th century American art.

Roni is a specialist on the art of Robert Rauschenberg, the subject of her dissertation at the Institute of Fine Arts, and has curated exhibitions and authored over two dozen catalogue essays on this and other artists.  She served for many years as Corresponding Editor for Art in America and has written for The Wall Street Journal, Print Quarterly, and a host of other publications.  She maintains a blog on her website, ronifeinstein.com, which also offers links to more than 90 of her publications.
