Event Details

Details: The Broad strongly believes that permitting individuals to fulfill civic and charitable needs by volunteering their services to the museum is an important tool in connecting the museum to the community. Likewise, internships are an important tool in introducing innovative people to museum work and preparing the workforce of the future.

The Broad offers internships to college and graduate students, recent graduates, and other adults pursuing further experience in the arts. Opportunities are available in the following departments: Marketing and Communications, Collection Management, Library, Information Technology, Audience Engagement, Curatorial, and Operations.

The objective of the program is to offer hands-on experience and training to individuals interested in pursuing careers in the visual arts and museum fields. Interns will gain an understanding of how a particular department functions within the context of a museum as well as skills related to a particular department's activities. Interns are selected based on their academic background, skills, interests, and long term goals.

Internships are either four or five full working days per week. Interns will also be required to participate in the intern training program, which will include field trips to other museums and galleries, and presentations by The Broad staff. All interns will be asked to make a commitment of three months.

Internship Periods

Our yearly internship calendar is divided into three periods: spring (January – May), summer (June-August), and fall (September – December). Each internship is a minimum of three months in duration.

Stipend

Internships are unpaid. However, The Broad will offer a stipend to up to three interns per period to help defray expenses. Stipends are $2,500 for 3 month internships. Candidates will be eligible for the stipend following successful admittance to the Internship Program.
