About Rainbow Around The Son

In 2013, Marlo Gottfurcht Longstreet lost her eleven-year-old son,Tanner, to a glioblastoma brain tumor. It was discovered that he carried
a hereditary cancer gene: the mutant p53. Marlo’s daughter, Casey, has the same mutated gene and an over 90% chance of developing many types of cancer.  Thankfully, Casey is healthy and leads an awareness initiative on her Genome Generation website.

Rainbow Around The Son chronicles the days of Tanner’s illness and death and Marlo’s determination to keep Casey healthy. Written in journal format, this compelling read is raw, real and powerful.

Marlo Gottfurcht Longstreet is the founder and president of the Tanner Project Foundation, created in memory of Tanner. The Foundation has funded several research projects for very early detection of cancer at the moment disease begins. The Tanner Project, at the J. Craig Venter Institute in La Jolla, California, develops personalized protocols that monitor patients who are predisposed to cancer.

Marlo and her family's story were featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, and she has been an inspirational and motivational speaker at several events and on cancer research videos. Rainbow Around The Son chronicles her journey.
