"The Self-Replicating Universe of Schelling’s Identitätssystem," an online lecture by Matt Cooper, European Languages and Studies, UC Irvine

This lecture will discuss how Friedrich Schelling imagined new ways of conceiving the relationship between subject and object and between humans and nature. Drawing on theories of nature from Immanuel Kant and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Schelling developed a new conception of how the realms of aesthetics and of nature relate to each other as a unified totality.
