Speaker: Sabrina Smith, Assistant Professor at UC Merced

Sabrina Smith specializes in the history of the African Diaspora to Mexico and Central America. Sabrina Smith is currently working on her first book manuscript tentatively titled, Beyond Captivity and Freedom: African-Descended Women and Men in Colonial Oaxaca. Last semester, she was a fellow at the John Carter Brown Library and the Huntington Library. Smith received a B.A in Spanish Literature and Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara and she earned her MA and PhD in History from UCLA.
