SAIGU REMEMBERED: KOREAN AMERICA & THE MANY FACES OF THE 1992 LA RIOTS

DOCUMENTARY SCREENING
How do we understand the 1992 Los Angeles Riots? Join us for a
special screening of Dr. Sang Chi’s Cal Humanities funded documentary
about the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. This year is the 25th anniversary
of the L.A. Riots, which Korean Americans call Saigu (4/29), the day
the riots began. Told from the perspective of 1.5 and 2nd generation
Korean American activists, reporters, and former gang members,
Saigu Remembered examines the Korean American experience, from
immigration to the explosive events of April 29, 1992, and ultimately
reflects the multiple impacts, meanings and legacies of the L.A. Riots.
