Department of Asian American Studies is hosting “Spilling the Beans: How Dramabeans.com makes space for one big (Korean) drama fan-mily” with guest speaker Sarah Chung, creator of the highest traffic site for fans of Korean drama and Hallyu, on November 20 at 12:30pm in HG 3341.

Sarah Chung is the creator of Dramabeans, a site she started in 2007 under the name “javabeans” in order to discuss her favorite K-dramas with other diehard fans, hoping there would be some. It turns out there were many more than she could ever imagine, and now, 11 years later, Dramabeans has grown into a massive repository of all things Korean drama, with expansive archives of reviews, news, and drama recaps. Dramabeans is home to a robust community of passionate fans of K-dramas and Hallyu, and covers the latest news from the Korean television and film industry; the site has published over 5,000 recaps covering hundreds of titles.
