Event Details

Andrew Gallia is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Minnesota.   His area of expertise lies in Roman history and culture.  Other research interests include Greek history and culture and the history of ancient civilizations. Prof. Gallia’s articles have appeared in Classical Quarterly, Transactions of the American Philological Association and The Journal of Roman Studies. His first book, Remembering the Roman Republic: Culture, Politics and History under the Principate (CUP 2011, paperback 2014), explores what its blurb describes as a "central paradox" of the Roman Principate: the presence of multiple, repeated claims of continuity with the past in the face of a political system that marked a clear break with the old traditions.
