Professors Zina Giannopoulou and Andromache Karanika from the Department of Classics will offer brief remarks and conduct a question and answer session following the Friday, Nov. 21st production of Metamorphoses, a “vibrant physical theatre adaptation” of Ovid’s poem and other classical materials.

Professor Giannopoulou specializes in ancient Greek philosophy, receptions of classical literature, Greek epic and tragic poetry.  She is author of Plato’s Theaetetus as a Second Apology (Oxford, 2013) and has recently edited a volume on David Lynch’s film Mulholland Drive (Routledge 2013).  Professor Karanika studies gender and performance in Greek literature, ancient and modern Greek oral traditions, and receptions of early Greek epic in late antiquity.  She is the author of Voices at Work:  Women, Performance and Labor in Ancient Greece (Johns Hopkins UP 2014).
