News Details

The UCI Humanities Center is pleased to announce our participation in the National Humanities Center’s (NHC) 2020 summer residency program for graduate students, Passionate Teaching in the Research Environment: Creating Narratives in the Accessible Classroom, July 6–17, located at the NHC in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina.

The NHC’s summer residency program focuses each year on a specific pedagogical theme paired with an emerging instructional technology tool. Participants are also introduced to learning science theory to better inform their instructional design and lesson writing. In 2020 participants will learn how to support storytelling with mapping technology and how to create engaging and accessible activities for the undergraduate classroom using objects and artifacts. Complete program information is available on the NHC website.

UCI will fund two students to participate in the 2020 program:
  • $1750 tuition + $2000 lodging option per student (paid directly to NHC)
  • Up to $1,250 stipend per student to reimburse roundtrip airfare, local transportation, meals & incidentals
If you are interested in participating, please apply by completing this form (http://bit.ly/NHCpedagogy) by January 31, 2020.  Decisions will be announced by the end of February.
