Accommodations

Housing for Seminar participants is readily available on or near the campus. A number of one-bedroom apartment units normally rented to visiting faculty will be available on campus at a cost of approx. $2200 for the period of the seminar. There are also a few two-bedroom apartments available for a family or two participants to share. Sub-lets for the period of the Seminar from graduate students or faculty at UC Irvine can be arranged. The director, working with an assistant, will facilitate contacts for this purpose.

Orange County is a resort area with temperate summer climate, without much humidity, and thus especially favorable for work during the summer months. The UC Irvine campus is four miles from the coast and within easy reach of excellent beaches and other recreational facilities. There are various summer sports and recreational programs for children on campus or in nearby municipal facilities.

There are abundant entertainment and cultural offerings within a 60-mile radius of the campus, from the San Diego Zoo to the Hollywood Bowl concerts, not to mention the numerous museums in the area (L.A.County, Getty, Norton Simon, MOCA, etc.).
