Carolyn Cole has covered national and international news for the Los Angeles Times since 1994. Cole’s work on the civil crisis in Liberia won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for feature photography. She is a two-time winner of the Robert Capa courage in photography award and has earned four World Press awards. In 2016 Cole earned the Robert F. Kennedy award for international photography for her coverage of the mass migration of Syrians across Europe. Cole is a graduate of the University of Texas and earned her Master of Arts from Scripps College of Communication Ohio University in 2009.
