The UCI Department of Spanish & Portuguese and UC Mexicanistas are sponsoring the Twelfth Annual Mexican Conference. This year’s conference will be dedicated to the critical discussion of Mexican poetry in dialogue with a variety of other literary and artistic discourses. This conference will bring together renowned Mexican poets and members of the younger generation of Mexican poets, as well as academics from the U.S. and Mexico who are conducting research on themes related to poetic discourse.

The conference will emphasize, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Relations, interconnections and cross-references: World literature in Mexican poetry, Mexico in world poetry
  • Problematization of poetic generations in Mexico and abroad
  • Literary spaces: dialogue between Mexican poetry and narrative
  • Poetic translation and bilingual anthologies
  • Mexican identity in poetry
  • Poetry and visual arts
  • Gender identity in poetry
  • Poetic production and publication processes
  • Exile/Diaspora and poetry
THE SELECTION COMMITTEE HAS SELECTED AND NOTIFIED CONFERENCE PRESENTERS.
