Please join us on Thursday, February 1, 2018, 6-8 pm in UC Irvine's Humanities Gateway (HG) 1010 for a talk titled "In Search of Modern Iran" by Professor Abbas Amanat (Yale University).

Dr. Abbas Amanat is professor of history and international studies at Yale University and director of the Yale Program in Iranian Studies at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. Abbas Amanat will discuss his new book: Iran: A Modern History (Yale University Press, 2017) and looks at the challenges and rewards of writing a longue durée covering a half millennium of Iran’s history and its encounter with modernity.

A book-signing of Dr. Amanat's latest book, Iran: A Modern History, will follow the talk.

This event is presented by UC Irvine's Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture.
