While the University of California, Irvine is more commonly known for its extensive research facilities and its many bio majors, many forget that it’s also home to some of Southern California’s elite dance crews.

MCIA (Modern Completely Insane Anteaters) is one such crew. With Ken-Ya Dance—SoCal’s biggest hip hop exhibition put on by the charitable organization Kenya Dream—coming up in less than a week, MCIA practices every night from 9 p.m. until as late as 1 to 2 a.m. in an empty UCI parking structure to prepare for the moment when they hit the stage..k letter
