John Capuchino Capuchino

John Capuchino is a fourth year Literary Journalism major.  He currently tutors English with the South Coast Literacy Council in Costa Mesa, California. After graduation he plans to teach English in Chile, preferably in the city of Santiago.  While there he hopes to travel South America and write about his experiences.

Latest Read: Joan Didion, The White Album

Favorite LitJ Stor: Norman Mailer, Miami and the Siege of Chicago

Next Destination: Latin America to teach English and learn Spanish.

Future Plans: Return to the Bay Area, preferably San Jose, California, and write for a local daily.

Recommended reading for everyone and why: Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma.
There are reasons why obesity is an epidemic in America. Pollan takes a good, hard look at them, and in the process achieves an incredible level of reporting.

Something people don't know but should: Orange County imports 1/3 of its water from the Sacramento Delta or the Colorado River because consumption exceeds what's naturally available. Irrigation, primarily of lawns, accounts for about half of Orange County's total water usage each year.
