Dear Friends of the UCI Center for Jewish Studies,

Since its founding, the UCI Center for Jewish Studies has been serving as an important hub for scholarship on Jewish history, literature, and religion; Israel Studies; and the study of the Shoah and antisemitism. The center is advancing research in these areas among our faculty and students, and we are committed to public engagement and outreach to the broader Orange County community.

I'd like to invite you to join me for a Conversation about the UCI Center for Jewish Studies with Professor and Center Director Matthias Lehmann via Zoom on Wednesday, October 14, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. This will be our first such virtual conversation with the community of the UCI Center for Jewish Studies supporters. I'd love for you to be there.

You’ll learn about the pressing research questions our scholars are discussing and insights they’ve gained through their research. You’ll also hear updates about what our students are learning about Jewish history, literature, and religion. And, you’ll hear about what we’re doing to build a strong community through our public programming. We'll share our aspirations to secure the longevity of Jewish Studies here at UCI with you, and we'll answer any questions you may have.

I am so grateful for your interest in our Center for Jewish Studies. I hope you will join the conversation as we continue to strengthen and expand Jewish Studies at UCI.

I look forward to seeing you virtually,

With best wishes,

Tyrus Miller
Dean, UCI School of Humanities
