An Advocate for Secular Humanism

Meet Matthew Ferguson, doctoral candidate in Classics and a member of the Graduate Liaison Network for the Humanities Center

Matthew Ferguson's research interests include ancient biography, Greek and Latin historiography, the New Testament, early Christianity, and the early Roman Empire. Matthew also studies philosophy in his graduate work and writes on topics such as ethics, epistemology, and metaphysics. Matthew completed his M.A. in Classics (emphasis in “Ancient History”) at the University of Arizona with a master’s thesis studying the use of ring composition in Suetonius Tranquillus’ De Vita Caesarum.

Apart from his graduate work, Matthew is also an advocate of secular humanism, naturalist philosophy, and church-state secularism.
