Event Details

What are the underlying causes of the global refugee crisis? What are the challenges refugees face in camps, and what are their long-term aspirations? What steps can we take in our local communities to address the crisis?

Be sure to take part in the week-long “Refugee Awareness Week” to explore these questions and more. Planned events include a photo exhibit by a refugee photographer, an interactive art display, workshops on the crisis of education in Syria and the causes and concerns of various refugee populations, a film screening, and a panel of award-winning keynote speakers as we seek to gain perspective and understanding “Through Refugee Eyes.”

Join Hearts of Mercy at UCI, Fresh START, the UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation, the Olive Tree Initiative, and more as we raise awareness and advocate for refugees locally and abroad.
