About Facilities

Facilities Management in the School of Humanities is devoted to providing and maintaining the optimal environment for our Faculty, Staff and Students.

We work together with many organizations at UCI such as Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety and UCIPD in the areas of building maintenance, proper climate controls in our buildings, office furnishings, efficient use of resources, energy conservation, safety and emergency preparedness. In addition to ensuring day-to-day maintenance of our facilities, we identify larger projects for the improvement of our school.

This website is intended to provide a quick and simple way to report problems or request services. Useful information and links to resources provided by the campus and school have been compiled on this site for your convenience. We welcome any feedback that you may have in order to provide you with the best support possible.

The School of Humanities is currently housed in four buildings:

Humanities Hall: One of the original UCI buildings, HH is primarily a classroom building. It is also the home of Spanish & Portuguese and the Humanities Studio.

Murray Krieger Hall: Another of the original UCI buildings, MKH is the home of the History and Classics departments, programs such as Jewish Studies, Religious Studies and the Humanities Language Learning Program, and is also where many graduate students from multiple departments can be found.

Humanities Instructional Building: Completed in 1997, HIB is home to English, East Asian Languages and Literature, Comparative Literature, European Languages & Studies, Philosophy, and Academic English. Additionally, the Office of Undergraduate Study, the Office of Graduate Study, and the Humanities Core Course Program are in HIB. After undergoing improvements for efficiency, HIB was recently certified LEED Gold EB.

Humanities Gateway: Completed in 2009, HG houses the Office of the Dean, Humanities Commons, the Samuel Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture, and the departments of Film and Media, Art History, Asian American Studies, African American Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. HG is also where our most frequently used conference rooms, HG 1030 and HG 1010, are located. HG was designed with green technologies in mind, and was the first LEED Platinum building on the UCI campus.
