Join us for the book launch of Sasinda futhi Siselapha on Thursday, January 24. The book, edited by Derilene Dee Marco, Tiffany Willoughby-Herard, and Abebe Zegeyem, is a fearless new interdisciplinary collection of contemporary criticism in the arts and humanities by a group of scholars working on contemporary South Africa.

Tiffany Willoughby-Herard, associate professor of African American studies, co-authored an introductory essay and wrote a final essay. Jeanne Scheper, chair of the Department of Gender & Sexuality Studies, co-authored an introduction to a collection of reflections on Winnie Mandela’s biography, 491 Days, by UCI undergraduate students in the African Feminisms/African Gender Studies course.

This is a great way to learn about contemporary South African Arts and their influence on politics.
