English Internships Deadline Feb. 12 2021

“So what are you going to do with that English major?”

How about helping the schools, companies, or communities you care about tell their stories, using the knowledge you’ve developed about plot, character, metaphor, setting, context, audience, and more?

In this new internship program, designed especially for English majors, students will be placed in offices around campus with stories to tell. Earn 2 units, develop new skills, and be paid for your work! We are placing students in positions across campus with marketing and communications needs,  Spring 2021.

Interns will work 5-10 hours per week and attend a two-hour training course, "Writing Internship 197," each Monday, 2-4pm, with Professor Julia Lupton.  You will also post to a weekly discussion board; submit a portfolio of completed work; and participate in a final open session about your internship (last day of class, open to other students and supervisors). You will receive 2  credits (P/NP) for completing Writing 197: Writing Internship. Internship positions may be paid, unpaid, or workstudy.

To apply, you must be an English major with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Winter information Session: Wednesday, January 13, 3:00 pm
